Straw Bale Order Terms

RENTAL/RESERVATION POLICIES:

  • Our straw bale delivery and pick up service, does not include set up or break down of an event. When the bales are delivered, we will stack them neatly in an area designated for them, if you give no direction to where you would like them dropped, we will place them by the front door.

  • We request that the bales be stacked at the same location of drop off, for our scheduled pick up time. If you are unable to have the straw bales ready for pick up at the scheduled time and location, a service fee will be charged for the additional time to breakdown the event.

  • If you are aware that the bales will not be returned or will not be stacked in the original drop off location please notify us of the change.

  • If you would like us to set up the bales for the event, please advise us when booking and we will be happy to extend that additional service to you. Any additional fees for this service will be determined based on number of bales to be set up.

    Please also be aware that we will only pick up straw bales, which are completely intact, as we have no way to transport broken or partially bound bales. 

  • Our Fire Retardant bales are prepared in accordance to the regulations for the City of Calgary Fire Department articles 2.3.2.1 and 2.3.2.2. Each fire retardant bale is steel strapped and treated with a fire retardant solution and tagged with a non-combustible tag with our companies’ name, contact information and date the bale was treated. The solution that is sprayed on the bales is designed to stop a flame from developing into a fire. As per the City of Calgary Fire Department, the removal of the tag or the steel strapping renders the fire retardant elements void.

  • Additionally; if a bale should be come wet it must be removed to the exterior of the building immediately and is no longer considered fire retardant. If for some reason any required material (band and/or tag) is removed or the bale becomes wet, the Last Straw will no longer be responsible for that bale.

  • It is advised that moving fire retardant straw bales be limited as the fire retardant solution will ‘wear’ off when moved repeatedly. If the bales need to be moved, wearing gloves is recommended as the edge of the steel strapping is sharp. 

  • Once we have delivered the straw, any loss or damage to the bales will be the responsibility of the customer and the bales will not be refunded or replaced without an additional charge.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • We require 2 hours notice of any cancellations, if you are unable to provide this notice, a fee of $100 will be charged.

  • If we arrive on site and have not been notified of cancellation, we will drop off your rental package and you will be charged for the full rental cost. Upon notification of your cancellation, bales that have been dropped off will be picked up at our convenience in accordance with the original rental agreement (on or before rental agreement end time frame).
